The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 9 meeting. For the 2023-24 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $16.3 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).
Governor's STEM Academy
Welcome to the Governor's STEM Academy!
The Landstown High School Governor's STEM Academy features a curriculum designed for students with a keen interest in and talent for technology. Students attending the Governor’s STEM Academy take core academic courses as well as technology elective courses from two major career strands: STEM Engineering Technology and Information technology. Students accepted into the Governor’s STEM Academy are required to take specific science, math, English, and Academy electives to satisfy the requirements of this specialized program.
The Landstown Governor’s STEM Academy combines academic and technical training that prepares students for a variety of post-graduation choices: college/university studies, advanced technology training, or entry-level jobs. Completion of the program will earn a Governor's STEM Seal. They will be eligible for either a Standard or Advanced Studies diploma. Students may also qualify for the Board of Education’s Seal of Advanced Mathematics and Technology depending on their course selections.
